Wikis for under 13s

So why not create separate terms and conditions for education wikis? If they are monitored by teachers and parents? You could create student accounts that identify them as under 13 and therefore under the protection of COPPA. This is a huge issue for K-12 educators. It would be great if you guys could meet us halfway. How do other wiki providers get past this 'rule'? 5  out of 5 found this valuable. Do you?

I agree - and blogs, etc also - we have created a rich 21st century learning environment lauded by many, and it's about to be shut down because of an arbitrary rule. everyone will lose.

I think most of the innovation in education happens in Primary classrooms anyway because of the freedom these teachers have to experiment. Why exclude the innovators who want to push digital boundaries?

All great points...and trust me it's not Wetpaint doing the blocking. It's the COPP'A Law. We just need to find away around it. I'm hoping we can find a way soon. Do you find this valuable?
