Public libraries
Dec 21 2007, 12:51 PM EST I think that public libraries also ought to be entitled to ad-free wikis. As a librarian, I run 2 book review wikis that are used by adults and young people. Can Wetpaint please consider giving libraries the same facility? 10 out of 11 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Public libraries
Jan 22 2008, 3:58 PM EST Hi there, I was interested to see your post about using wikis in libraries. I manage a school library as well as being the co-ordinator for e-learning (the two tie together quite well) and although I am quite new to creating/editing and having input into wikis, I heard of them quite a while ago. I recently thought about setting up class or year group based wikis in support of getting students more interested in reading - as well as hitting literacy targets for our students. Do you have any suggestions on making wikis successful in these circumstances? How well do yours get used? Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Public libraries
Feb 19 2008, 5:13 PM EST I'm interested in this question too since I am a "librarian in training" and one of our professors is encouraging us to learn as much about technology as we can. My school district has even made available a professional development option called “The 23 Things" which in nut shell allows participants to learn new technology by doing various activities online. Building a Wiki is one of the activities. I helped our librarian build a Wiki using Wetpaint's general access area since libraries don't yet qualify for ad-free and before they invitations had a chance to dry we already had a complaint about one of the ad's saying "pimp up"! Help us Wetpaint, please! This is a great tool that could cut down on a lot of needless email tagging, trapsing around campus to get answers and just make a poor librarians life easier. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
