Blog for professional as well as for training.
As I learn more about blogging, I realize that it is a necessary tool in all aspects such as classroom teaching, professional development, training & development, or corporate setting. I have two usages for the blog. One is in my professional work when I teach QuickBooks to a Community College and the other one for my classes. The blog for the online classes that I am taking, I would use learning blog to learn how to blog as well to share my experiences with other classmates.
When I teach QuickBooks at a community college, I could set up a blog for the students who could communicate their experience of the class and their learning of the material in the blog. They could also ask questions and put helpful hints on the blogs about how to use the software, QuickBooks. I am actually going to explore the way that my class can start utilizing this for the next class.

Blogging in the online "classroom"
The courses I teach instruct on how to use database software and how to understand databases in general. Some of the concepts, particularly that of normalization, are difficult to explain. Using a blog for tough concepts such as normalization, sorting, and queries would be a good way to have everyone describe their problems and supply explanations in their own words that might be different and better for them to understand than my words might have been. The type of blog I would use would be a Class Blog. I think a blog can be easier to "speak" in than a traditional class. There is plenty of time to organize your thoughts before you start typing, and there is the anonymity of no one seeing you if you ask a "stupid" question. It is both private and at the same time public to the class members. Concepts that are difficult to understand can be a challenge in an online course. A blog could make the process more interactive.

Blogs From A Educational Stand Point
Well as a Distance Education Student I have been using blogging in atleast two of my classes, and it has actually been really helpful becasue it lets you see that some people think like you or they may make a better point which will make you see the bigger picture of the thing you are talking about. I believe that teachers should use this in the early stages like with the students that are in middle and high school to get them use to blogging and expression what they thought about the story or article they are reading. Blogging poses as a great new teaching method and you don't have to have that much paperwork to do with blogging you write and you post, that is so easy to do, I love the idea of using blogging throughout the school system!!

Blogs as Educational tools
I am using blogs in both BITE 5200 and BITE 5389 classes to do the weekly participation project of the class. This clearly shows that blogs can be a wonderful educational tool that students and teachers can use to their full advantage. I agree with Ephar3 that adding videos to blogs do make the blogs more interactive and user friendly. Even without videos blogs load fast on slower internet connection and are easy to create and edit that makes it an ideal choice for both high school and college students who are not technically savvy enough to code in html or upload using ftp.

Blog as a Teacher
I feel that blogging is a great resource that few teachers take advantage of. It seems to me that over the years I have been in school that time management has played a bigger and bigger role in the lives of students. Blogging is one way to let students collaborate outside of a traditional classroom setting and also for students from different places to work with each other. If I were teaching a class I would use blogs as means to turn in asssignments. This allows other students in the class to have access to not only the information they have researched, but also all of the information theyre classmates have posted. I feel like this allows each student to learn more than just what they are assigned to research like in a traditional classroom.

As a Video Production Educator
I would use a blog to make a connection between ideas and video production. It would foster creativity for those participating in the blog project. The project would incorporate The Learning Blog format. Students are more creative and tend to give more if the Blog is considered their own. Students will blog weekly about different new techniques, their personal styles, inspirational works of others, and even the opportunity to blog about videos they created. This would be a great tool for video production tool, to reveal their thought process of creating really good videos in an effort to help others with ideas and the video production process. It is very important to see process in which video producers manifest there ideas. This Blog will not only foster collaboration, but will serve as a reference in order to help guide other students as they strive to become better at their craft.

Business blog
Being in an office settiing, I would use blogging to interact with co-workes to keep track of news, promotions and other corporate information. I would use the "Site Feed" feature to keep track of a lot of co-workers blogs. Site Feed is a progrm that can be read by using another peice of softwre called newsreader. This way your email inbox won't become cluttered with posted messages from people publishing their weblogs. This blog will buidl closer working relationships between co-workers at work. People can spend years working togerther without getting to know them well. A blog is another tool that can bring co-workers together as well as post important business information. Projects can be developed especially if the project is shared by several people in defferent departments. Your manager would be able to use this blog as well and will be able to stay informed on teamwork projects.

Corporate Setting
There are several different ways that I think a blog could be used in a corporate setting. I work for Wells Fargo Dealer Services, and we have offices in 48 states. We have operations facilities in three states. We communicate with each other via e-mail, conference calls, and instant messaging on a daily basis, mostly on a professional level. Our business line is really great about facilitating associate activities to provide a forum for us to get to know each other and spend some time socializing. However, because we are in so many different locations, this is always limited to the team that we work with directly in one location. I think blogs could be used to post information about employees that they want to share about their personal lives in order to help us get to know each other better on a personal level. In addition, we could share information on associate activities and pictures of events that are occurring at each company site. Another option would be to allow employees to post ideas that would help improve processes and allow other team members to share feedback or additional insight to the ideas that are posted.

Professional Development Blogs
I believe I would use the professional blog at my job so I can pass on information as needed. Over the years I have trained several new employees and more recently retrained current ones. An ongoing problem I have seen is the failure to pass on information simply because you did not think of it at that point in time. With a blog when I’m sitting in a meeting or a training session and I think of something that would be beneficial for everyone to know I could simple blog about it at the next break. This would allow a means for me to provide as much information as possible to my employees as well as aid me in creating a more comprehensive training manual for all to use.
To have a location where everyone can log into whenever they want or need to for new information as well as provide a location for them to leave questions and comments will only help to improve the learning of everyone involved and thus the organization overall.

Using blogs in classrooms
I think I would use the class blog in my class so that the students could participate also. I think this would be fun to do in my online Law and Ethics course. This is a course that students in Medical Office Administration take. I think that I would start the blog by posting a discussion question on a medical case and let them talk it over and see how they think the courts will decide the outcome. I could come in later and tell them what actually happened.
It would also be good to let them search for medical cases and post them to the blog with their reflections. I have been looking for a way to tie this time of learning into the online class because we do class discussion in the campus class. I have always felt like the discussion postings in Moodle were not equivalent to the interaction we have in our campus class. This would also be a great way to improve student writing which is one of our initiatives at the college right now.
