I am not new to Wikis, but I have not used them with my students. I need to review what I know about wikis and then try to do something small with my students.

hi there! today i tried to use the wiki for my second time (the first was yesterday) with another class. the first task was to think about a place, elaborate three points and write down one of them (each student had to write only one) on a list in a page. the task which was intended to be very fast resulted in a mess and in a wast of time as the words did not appear and some students typed the word on the same space. could you please help me in this? i do know that one learns by doing but i would like to do things that students would enjoy and today i felt they did not like the task.
second point: i had put a video on a page. again, students had to think about some elements of that topic, write down 1 word in a list, watch the video/read a review of that video and come up at the end with one sentence, one opinion to share in the wiki but as it was difficult to have the points saved, they did not write anysentence either. the point is that they end up working ndividually, not collectively. have i used the wiki improperly!?? |

This may be a good way to share ideas with my daughter-in -law who teaches second grade in Charlotte NC.
