adowling Grading with a rubric 0 Mar 5 2008, 12:57 PM EST by adowling

I recently finished a wiki project on genetic disorders with my 8th grade science students. Each group of 2-3 students was assigned a page on a central wiki and was to make an informational page about a genetic disorder. I found it easy to grade their participation by looking at the page history. Students were instructed to make sure that each group member had been logged in to edit and add to the page.

If anyone would like to see the rubruc I used it is attached at the bottom of the home page of the project wiki here (all pages have been locked and all student names have been removed).

I also have a classroom wiki where I post classroom material and students have posted many threads about different topics in science. That wiki, however, is completely private.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to message me! :)

My students are writer contributors and i can access their page edits with detail and last activity, in the proper area of contributors.
They also have their own pages, with subpage with the information i requested for each work/project/class and where they can add own links or add attachments.
I evaluate they contribution by their activity and acces to the pages, i could, also, start a forum.
And also important for me are the material i put in the wiki for the class so they can access and follow during the class, or out of the class.
