Hello, I have created a wiki for internal use. It is private and I intend to give the students the same username and Password that I have. Is that right or do I have to create a username and password for each of them? Sorry but I am new to this. Help!

I have created a classroom wiki that will be private as soon as I register my students. I will also be inviting parents via their email addresses. How do I handle it when a user forgets their password? As the administrator, do have visibility to all of the registered user passwords?
Can you enlighten me?

I have created a wiki for my English classroom for students to discuss, post essays, stories, etc., check homework, locate study guides and links. How do I register students to use this wiki, and how do I prevent them from being able to edit it? I want them to be able to post, reply, discuss, but not to change the content.
Thanks Sasha

I am considering a wiki for our math teachers to share lessons. They would need to be able to download lessons that were in the form of PDF files, word documents or powerpoint. A maximum of 40 attachments for the entire site would be limiting. I know this question was asked previously, but wondering if it has been changed - especially for education? Or is there a suggested "work-around"

Do you have some good examples of WetPaint or other wiki sites that focus on music education and multimedia. I am interested in exploring methods for collaborative study in music, digital storytelling, video and documentary.
Thanks. rgr

I am trying to find out whether wetpaint has the security settings appropriate for secondary students to use.
Aim: To have a place where students can publish work (including photos of themselves performing science experiments) in a private setting to protect their identity. My current understanding: That Wetpaint offers a 'Private page' setting where only invited guests can view pages made by students. This will include me (their teacher for monitoring and commenting), their classmates (for peer review) and their parents (for viewing and commenting and seeing my comments to their children). When the time comes, students can invite classmates to have editing rights on their pages for collaborative work. I have set up my own wetpaint wiki (with course content and activities) to explore whether it will work with my intentions. I have set it up as a private page, but can view it when I am not signed in to wetpaint. Could you please set me straight as a man in the know. Thanks.

I am interested in becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, but my college counselor doesn't really help. I want to know if I should fist get a degree in something like Radiologic Technology and then a certificate in Sonography, or if I could just go into Sonography because it is what my actual carrier goal is.

How can I share the syllabus with my students and parents and avoid users from editing the page? Not that a student would take something off and say it was never assigned.

How can I undo setting the template to parent-teacher association? I thought I was simply adding a new page to link to for parents, but it reconfigured everything.

Hi Mr Bartels,
I've just created a Wetpaint Wiki for my Grade 5 class. Do you know if there is a way I can create user logons for each of my students, rather than 'inviting' them via email. The emails go to their parents. I'm afraid if I send the 'invite' to parents, most parents won't be bothered creating a Wetpaint user account for their child, and hence that child won't be able to log in. Is there a way of me being able to create a user logon for each child? Kind regards Tricia (Australia)

My question regards students' access to other discussion forums on Wetpaint. We want our students to create a wiki in Wetpaint, though there is a concern that by allowing access to Wetpaint, they will also be able to access discussion forums and other content within Wetpaint that could be deemed 'inappropriate'. Is it possible to set access to education wikis only?

I work in a pre-k special needs classroom in a county which has about 180 similiar classrooms. Paperwork tends to be a bit of a nightmare, changes constantly and is in general confusing. I have been askingmy program for a chat room where teachers could exchange info and ideas for years. Would wet paint be a good forum for my situation?

| DebraJones | access to individual pages of a wiki | 9 | Jun 10 2008, 9:16 PM EDT by DebraJones | |||

Hi,
I have recently set up a class wiki that stores all the lesson plans, objectives, examples of work, exemplar examples etc for one music class. I would like to also be able to communicate my assessments and feedback on their work to them within the wiki space. Is it possible to give them all a page and limit access to that page so that only myself and the student concerned is able to view it? At the moment I'm using the message facility to feedback to them but it would be better to have a space where all the comments and grades could accumulate. I have no problem sharing comments on individual pieces of work but I don't want a student's whole record on display for the whole class to nosey at! Has anyone else found a solution to this? Debra
