For my first “Wiki Pick of the Month” I chose the Golden Paint Can Award Winner 21st Century Learning. The wiki was conceived by Vicki Butler and started by Kathleen Johnson.

When I visited this wiki, there were two things that stood out to me that I think we can all learn from. First, the wiki has a clear message at the beginning that states the purpose of the wiki. This goes along with my “Tip of the Month” of having an about page on your wiki. Although 21st Century Learning doesn’t have a separate about page, the home page of the wiki makes it very clear what you are going to find on the rest of the site. Secondly, I love that they have added their own Creative Commons License at the bottom along with a blurb about the authors of the site. This allows users to easily identify and verify the source behind the work and at the same time understand that it’s OK to use these resources for their own teaching as stated in the Creative Common 2.5 License.
Vicki and Kathleen have created a great wiki for educators to not only use, but have also invited all of you to add information to the wiki as well. So go ahead…wiki away.
