Starting Simple
December 11, 2007

A common mistake made when incorporating technology in the classroom is jumping into the deep end. There is no reason to make the first venture into classroom wikis with an elaborate group project. Start simple. A great way to ease into classroom wikis is by first setting up an informational classroom wiki. An informational classroom wiki can give parents a window into daily classroom activities. It's like calling every student's home every night, but without the hours on the phone. It also gives students a valuable resource to find information about assignments. An informational classroom wiki is a great way to improve communication with parents, keep students informed, and get your feet wet in the wonderful world of Wetpaint wikis. -Mr. Bartels

To create an informational classroom wiki, create a new wiki, then select the "Classroom" template from the Site Wizard menu (see below).
